information forthcoming

Founded in 1820, the Royal Astronomical Society exists to advance, and to record the history of, our understanding of the Earth, the solar system, the galaxies and the nature of the Universe. The Society has maintained a library for its members since its foundation, and is now a rich resource for the study of the history of astronomy and geophysics. It holds one of the largest specialist collections of astronomical early printed books dating back to the 15th century. Its archives hold institutional and membership records dating back to 1820, as well as the working papers of leading 19th and 20th century astronomers.
